The CRMI Gallery is an independent exhibition space above the Chrämerhuus restaurant in Langenthal. I was asked in 2023 to develop an installation work for the shop window and approx. 6000 placemats. I was keen to work with the location.
In a video work, Google Street View images of the city of Langenthal are shown and superimposed on each other. This creates an alienation of the space, you see the familiar shopping center or even your own apartment in a new light.
There are also placemats in the restaurant. They show abstract black and white satellite images of the city of Langenthal. They are accompanied by texts that take up the forms of the satellite images and are imbued with a physicality. They attempt to draw the body back into the alienated landscape.
